Happy First Birthday To My Adorable Grandson Blake....

Hello everyone on this special day for the Doyle-Ward family...my youngest grandson's first birthday. I cannot believe that this little man is one today. The year as flown by since Blake was born on March 20 2011 eight weeks premature...

Blake at just two days old....

Look how he's grown, one year old today...

Once again a Big Thank You to the staff at Truro hospital for the care this little one received while there...

Love this photograph of Korenza, my eldest grandee, who was four last December..

My second grandee Dylan who was three in February. Daddy had gelled his hair, not sure about that..lol..

Birthday boy with his daddy...

Hubby and I collected the family and took them out for tea. They all enjoyed it, especially me because I got to spend time with all my three grandees....

I think you'll agree Korenza was enjoying herself...

A proud brother..

Being only one Blake needed help from his siblings to open his cards and presents from nana and granddad....

''Let me''..

''I'll leave it to my big brother''

''So that's what it was''

It's hard to know what to get for a one year old that is both safe and entertaining. We also put a little money in the bank for the children at birthdays and Christmas, it will help them when they are older....

Big sister's turn to help her baby brother...

Blake seems to like his presents..

Blake, Korenza and Dylan with their daddy Christopher..

Blake and granddad have a 'man to man' chat...

Happy Birthday sweetheart....

Until next time, take care...Hugs Chrissy xx

Happy Mothering Sunday....

Hello on this sunny Mothering Sunday, I hope all mothers and grandmothers are enjoying their day. I've just had a lovely phone call from my son, wish I'd gone to see him now but hubby and me chose to have a lazy day due to him not finishing work until 3:30am...but I do feel a little guilty because he said he was looking forward to seeing me. But I should not, because in my book Mother's Day is every day, so I can always see him tomorrow....

There are times only when a Mother's love Can understand our tears, Can soothe our disappointments And calm all our fears

A Mother...

When you're a child she walks before you, To set an example. When you're a teenager she walks behind you To be there should you need her. When you're an adult she walks beside you So that as two friends you can enjoy life together

Happy Mothering Sunday, enjoy your day...

Until next time, take care...Hugs Chrissy xx

When Irish Eyes Are Smiling......

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you all and hope you had a good day whether you were celebrating or not. Once again I am not wearing any shamrock as I used to do and I should really because I am very proud of my Irish roots....

My father used to always bring sprigs of shamrock home for us children to wear. My father was a true Irish man and past the love of his homeland onto me. So proud of my maiden name was I that I kept it when I married and just added hubby's surname to it. I had the surname of Doyle for 41 years and was proud to do so and so was loathed to change it....

My father would be so proud to see his family name passed on through the generations, through me, my son and my grandsons. Beginning with my grandfather, I would like to introduce you to the Doyle male line....

My grandfather Christopher Doyle ~ 1863-1934 ~

My father Christopher Doyle ~ 1924-1981 ~

My son Christopher Mark Doyle born 1984

My grandson Dylan Riley Edsel Doyle born 2009

My grandson Blake Christopher Cal-El Doyle born 2011 and will be 1 on Tuesday

I am so proud of my family but you've probably guessed that already..lol...

As I'm not wearing any shamrock I will show you some here

Wherever you go and whatever you do, May the luck of the Irish be there with you....

Until next time, take care...Hugs Chrissy xx

A Day For Women And A Tribute To Our Soliders.....

Hello from the Hovel on International Women's Day, I hope you all had a good day....

But before I go any further I would like to pay tribute to the six young men who loss their lives on March 6 2012 in Afghanistan. My heart goes out to their loved ones and my prayers and thoughts are with them. A senseless loss of life, we should bring all our soliders home....

R.I.P and God Bless

International Womens Day

In honour of women everywhere this day has been celebrated every year on March 8 since 1909....

Poster for Women's Day, March 8, 1914. Claming voting rights for women

The 1932 Soviet poster dedicated to the 8th of March holiday

The mimosa (technically, the Silver Wattle) is the symbol of the celebrations of Women's day in Italy and Russia

There have been many women who have left their mark on the world. I have mentioned some of those women on my blogs 'Away with the Faerys' and 'The Primitive Cornish Attic'....

You may say 'Why has this woman got three blogs when she struggles to post here sometimes' and I would agree with you. I have many interests that I like to share with you. However, I may not have multi-personalities but I do have multi-aspects of my personality..lol..

The Primitive Cornish Attic blog began life as a proposed selling blog but it remained unused for quite a while. So in my wisdom I thought I would use it to show my collections, vintage interests, etc....

As you know The Primitive Cornish Hovel blog is a mixed bag of daily life, history, family, world events, etc. Now what you didn't know (or maybe you did..lol..) is that there is still the child within me. So to people who know me an explaination as to why I created the Away with the Faerys blog is not neccessary. However the reason will become clear....

I still believe in Faries....

and collect witches and suchlike. I'm not called KernowWitch for nothing..lol.. And I still believe in Santa Claus....

and the Easter Bunny....

and I love the colour purple....

So you will see if you visit my blog 'Away with the Faerys'...
I wanted to create a place where I could visit for a while to escape the pressures of being an adult, to relive the magic of childhood. DonT't we all..lol..

So now you know why I have three blogs. Until next time, take care...Hugs Chrissy xx

Happy St. Piran's Day....

Happy St. Piran's Day to all our Cornish friends across the globe. Thankfully the weather stayed dry and sunny here in Cornwall, although a little chilly. No doubt there will have been many events today to celebrate the life of St. Piran, the patron saint of Cornwall. But for me it was a brisk walk up the hill and back to see the nurse at my local surgery. Why is that they have a doctor's surgery at the top of a hill. I often joke that they should have a oxygen supply ready for me for when I get there, not as fit as I once was...lol...

St. Piran flag flying proudly. If you look closely you can just see it through the bushes

A better view here. Hope the owners don't mind my showing it on my blog...

There will be many St. Piran flags flying today. I have written more about St. Piran on my Away With The Faerys Blog......

Nearly home, I live just around the corner from the white house at the bottom, in fact next door.....

This is a lovely peice of green land. It used to have swings, etc, but sadly they were vandalised.....

Beautiful flowers in front of a Cornish wall...

A glance back to where I had just walked...

Two seagulls, quite now. They had been squaking very loudly just before I took this photo...

I did enjoy my walk, I felt very invigorated when I returned home and promptly settled down to drink a a well-deserved cappuccino....

Until next time, take care...Hugs Chrissy xx

Happy St. David's Day...

Hello and Happy St. David's Day to all our Welsh friends, hope you have enjoyed today's celebrations.....

And thankfully spring will not be long. I can feel it in the air with warmer spells and birds singing. I can well understand why we say 'with a spring in our steps' because I certainly feel that way..

Winter's cobwebs have gone (well ok not all in my house..lol..) and nature is begining to awake as flowers bloom..

Among moss and a piece of litter, leaves and flowers get ready for spring

Yellow flowers, one of my favourite colours..

Beautiful pink blossom on a dull day..

Wild garlic I believe...

A pale pink flower pushes through the greens and browns of nature

An assortment of colours for people to enjoy....

An abundance of Bluebells waiting to flower in my garden

A sign that spring is just around the corner...

Until next time, take care...Hugs Chrissy xx
